Refinished Wood Floors
We completed our project at 2315 S Chester in Little Rock, Arkansas, before I finished blogging. So many last minute details that required long hours in those final days keeping us busy. But, I’m back, so let’s talk floors. We knew when we first saw the floors at the Chester house, that we wanted to refinish these beautiful wood floors. When our floor guy, Kirby, arrived, he was really excited. He explained that the wood floors on the main floor were pecan, which he says is really rare. And, the wood floors on the second floor was an extinct wood, heart pine. Here’s pics, so enjoy.
The first picture is what we call the hearth room on the main floor with the rare pecan wood floors. The second picture is a bedroom on the second floor with the extinct heart pine wood floors. As you can see these are the narrow wood planks from years gone by. Kirby stripped the existing stain by lightly sanding these floors, then he simply varnished these floors. These wood floors were too beautiful naturally to cover them with a stain.
Restoring these beautiful wood floors allowed this Craftsman home to maintain it’s historic charm. The modern updates are found where they’re most wanted, in the kitchen and master suite. Here are pics of these beautifully refinished wood floors!
The first picture is the living room with the pecan wood floors, and the second is a bedroom with the extinct heart pine wood floors. These are lovely. While we’re looking at these pictures, I want to point out the details on the windows. That’s one of many things that are special about a Craftsman home. If you love details like that, you should look for Craftsman homes in your area. If you’re in Little Rock, come check out this gorgeously restored Craftsman home at 2315 S Chester.
Have you refinished wood floors, or are you hoping to do so someday? I’d love to hear your stories!
