The Pit: Don’t fall Victim!

Did you ever see the 1986 movie, Money Pit, starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long? The short description of this movie says, a young couple struggles to repair a hopelessly dilapidated house. I thought this was going to be a comedy, and there were funny moments, but I remember leaving that movie feeling a little sad.

Regular maintenance reduces the repairs your assets, like your home and car, may need. But, sometimes homeowners put off routine maintenance and/or simply can’t afford it. When your home needs repairs you can’t afford to make, your dream home can soon become a money pit. One needed repair can soon become another and another, until the repair costs and the repairs needs creates a sense of hopelessness.

If that’s you, start fixing your home a little bit at a time over several months and years, to get it back into dream home shape. Sometimes that’s simply not possible.  If it seems there is no way to accomplish this, your next step may be to call us. We do our best to make you a win-win offer on your home.

What Your Home is Worth

The first thing we do before even visiting your home is calculate what a home with this square footage in this neighborhood will sell for if it was in perfect shape. Prices vary by neighborhoods and size, so it’s pretty easy to calculate this. We need to know this, so we can make sure we make some money once we complete the repairs to the home.

What Repairs are Needed

The next step is to visit the home. We walk through making notes of the repairs needed inside and outside the home. Since we’ve been doing this for a lot of years, there’s very little that we haven’t seen. Almost anything can be repaired, the cost just has to be calculated.

Our Offer

Our offer is determined by calculating the difference between what your home is worth and the needed repairs. We have to make a profit either in a sale or by renting the house, so that is part of the calculation, too. We hope to be a source of hope, and our offers have been a relief to lots of folks in recent years, and we’d love to talk to you if you need to sell your home!
