Which do you prefer – blinds, curtains, or shutters? I think internal shutters are used sparingly, reserved for those special openings that need to be fully covered periodically. Folks used to always buy curtains, while many purchased customer draperies to match their room décor. I grew up in homes with curtains on every window. More and more these days, I see homes with blinds in every window.
Privacy or Home Décor?
We decided to add custom wood blinds in the Craftsman home we just finished renovated. It was important to us that we not cover the beautiful windows in this historic home. But, we knew the buyers would love the privacy that blinds would offer. A couple of companies measured and provided quotes for the blinds. One company said they could anchor the blinds inside the window frame or outside the frame, while the other company only offered blinds anchored outside the frame.
The master suite has a sitting area with windows kind of like a sun room, so we were trying to decide between long draperies and a pull-shade. The lady measuring for the blinds for one company said, you don’t want material touching material. Her contention was a long curtain was a no-no in a carpeted room. I’ve been pondering that decision for several days, and I think I’m leaning toward a pull shade. Have you heard of this decorating faux paux? Just curious!
Custom Order in Arkansas
I chose the company who offered the blinds inside the window frame. It took about 10 days from measuring to ordering custom to installing. And, today was the installation. Aren’t these beautiful? They came from Blind Illusions in Benton, Arkansas. Call Greg at 501-315-7728, tell him I sent you. He’ll treat you right!
Tell me what you prefer for window treatments – curtains or blinds. And, are they part of your home décor, or are they mainly for privacy? Maybe a mixture of both, but I’d like to see your pictures too!
